... life coach training in the philippines ... (counselor, psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatrist)

.
this weekend's life coach training module was entitled "the study of common life problems."
.
it included lecturettes on anger, interpersonal conflict, grief, depression, suicide, and other topics.
.
from the picture below, you can tell that the participants were deeply engaged in the discussions. everyone was learning from each other's personal experiences.
.
many questions were asked...
.
and we were honest enough to admit that not all questions in life have answers.
.
i also spent time giving feedback as they demonstrated their life coaching skills.
.
i am simply amazed by how much potential the participants have in becoming competent and inspiring life coaches!

... profile of a pinoy voyeur cum callboy ... (philippines, life coach, counselor, psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatrist)

.
just this afternoon, the crew of Ka-Blog (a tv program of GMA-7) visited me at my clinic.
.

they wanted me to share some information on the sexual perversion known as "voyeurism."
.
after sharing my five centavos' worth of knowledge on the topic, they asked me to interview an actual honest-to-goodness real-life 23-year old peeping tom. for the sake of anonymity, i'll give this guy the fictitious name 'Peping."
.
my brief interview with peping gave me a peek into the origins and extent of his voyeurism. ..

peping's voyeurism started when he was a teenager. at 17, he worked as a waiter at a bar. because many of the bar's patrons found him charmingly pleasant and highly attractive, he began doubling as a callboy to augment his meager income. it was here where he had his first taste of gay sex. initially, he considered such acts atrocious especially since he was already married at that time. the more he engaged in homosexual play however, the more he succumbed to and became addicted to its titillating pleasures.
.
during this time, peping lived in an apartment room just overlooking the bar. throughout the night, he would stealthily peek outside his window which gave him a clear and privileged view of all the sex acts being performed by the bar's unsuspecting customers.
.
moreover, the wall in his apartment room had a crack which allowed him to become a secret spectator of his adjacent neighbor's sexual frenzy. asked whether his neighbor could also peep through the same hole in the wall to watch his own sexual acts, peping said that it could very well be..
.
peping offered some final thoughts about his being a peeping tom and being a callboy. he said that being a callboy beats being a peeping tom anytime. he could be apprehended and incarcerated by the police for either "crime" but at least, in being a callboy, he gets some money to pay the bills.

... qigong energy therapy in the philippines... (life coach, counselor, psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatrist)

.
i've always been intrigued by qigong energy therapy.
.
as a clinical psychologist and psychiatrist, i apply it on clients who suffer from depression, anxiety disorder, panic attacks, irritable bowel syndrome, ocd, adhd, and chronic fatigue. these days however, many of my clients ask for it in order to release pent-up stress, to relax, and to rejuvenate themselves.
.
"qi" is the chinese word for "life energy." in traditional chinese medicine (tcm), "qi" is the vital force, the animating power that is present in all living beings. when a person is healthy, qi is clear and its flow throughout the body is smooth. when a person is sick, the qi is turbid and its flow is impeded by congestion or stagnation.
.
qigong energy therapy is also known as qigong medical therapy or external qi healing. it is the art and science of manipulating this "qi" to produce over-all health and wellness.
.
to perform qigong energy therapy, one must first be rigorously trained and disciplined in the whole healthcare system of qigong. i myself was trained under chinese master hao in a qigong system that involves static and dynamic exercises, breath control, massage, and visualization.
.
the healing effects of qigong energy therapy is validated by thousands of scientific studies. this scientific backing is the primary reason for the increasing popularity and credibility of qigong energy therapy throughout the world.
.
qi energy therapy is a "laying on of hands" type of healing. qi energy therapy is like getting a massage without being touched at all! amazing isn't it?
.
for me, it is a joy to be in God's presence, to connect and be filled with His healing and loving energy, and to be used as His energetic conduit in bringing health, wellness, and happiness to others.

... play therapy workshop for adults ... (philippines, life coach, counselor, psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatrist)

.
why let kids have all the fun?
.
adults have all the right to play, too!
.
after all, aren't adults merely children-- wearing older bodies?
.
as a psychotherapist who facilitates play therapy workshops for adults, my task is to invite each participant's "inner child" to awaken from deep slumber and to come out of hibernation.
.
in play therapy for adults, participants are given permission to be child-like (and childish) again!
.
the joy, the spontaneity, the camaraderie, and the plain silliness of play makes play therapy a powerful healing intervention for adults who are emotionally-repressed or too self-conscious.
.
and with all that said, who says now that play therapy is kidstuff?

... life coach - psychotherapist of celebrities ... (philippines, counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist)

.
thanks mr. ricky lo for mentioning me in your philstar column (june 13, 2009):
.
"When celebrities and high-profile personalities experience emotional problems, they seek out Dr. Randy Dellosa who is more popularly known as the in-house counselor of reality-TV and the psychological screener for TV game shows."
..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.
thanks mr. boy abunda for also mentioning me your philstar column (june 12, 2009):
.
Psychologists, meanwhile, are dishing out their own analysis. In an interview with another broadsheet (June 1), Dr. Randy Dellosa (of Pinoy Big Brother fame) said that Hayden’s behavior could be a sign that he is: 1. a “male chauvinist pig” and has low regard for women; 2. could be a publicity stunt to boost his career; 3. he is suffering from gender identity confusion; 4. plain perversion, 5. a voyeur — somebody who feels sexual pleasure from watching unsuspecting people in the nude or engaging in sexual activity.

... expressive-creative arts therapy in the philippines ... (life coach, counselor, psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatrist)

.
these days, i've been facilitating a lot of art therapy workshops all over town. the most recent one i did was in makati, in a place called good qi circle fitness center.
..
what attracts people to arts therapy is that it is a fun way to attain
.
  • self-awareness,
  • self-understanding,
  • self-expression, and
  • self-healing.
..
expressive-creative arts therapy is a holistic approach since it involves the body, the mind, and the emotions.
.
in the workshops, participants discover that they can express themselves
.
through verbal sharing:
.
through visual art:
.
through movement:
.
and even through stillness:
.
expressive-creative arts therapy allows us to be like little children again- being innocent, playing spontaneously, and taking risks.

is artistic skill needed?

not at all! the focus is not on artistry, skill, talent, or performance. the goal of expressive-creative arts therapy is to reach deep within one's self, to contact the authentic self, and to hear the messages from the inner core.

the result?

  • personal growth,
  • integration of body, mind, and emotions, and
  • a greater sense of life being fuller, more joyful, and more meaningful.

..."buddha is a shit stick." ... (philippines, life coach, counselor, psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatrist)

.
been doing zen meditation at a zen monastery. here i am in front of it:
.
here's what the zen masters have to say about the buddha:
.
  • "buddha is a shit stick (the ancient equivalent of toilet paper)." -- zen master yunmen wenyan
  • "if you meet the buddha on the road, kill him." -- zen master lin chi
    .
    so what is zen?
    .
“true zen consists of sitting quietly in the correct posture. It is not a special state, it is the normal state: silent, peaceful, without agitation. zen means to put the mind at rest and to concentrate the mind and body. in zen there is no purpose, no seeking to gain something, no special effort or imagination. it is not knowledge to be grasped by the brain. it is solely a practice, a practice which is the true gate to happiness, peace and freedom.” -- zen master taisen deshimaru.
    .
nice zen story:
.
a monk sets off on a long pilgrimage to find the truth. he spends many years on his quest and finally finds the river which leads to the temple where truth can be found.

he rides a boat and rows toward the temple.

as he rows, he sees a corpse floating on the water and it approaches his boat.

the monk looks. he recognizes the corpse-- it is his own.

the monk loses all self-control and wails.

there he floats, dead.

nothing remains.

everything he has ever been; he has ever learned; he has ever owned, floats past him, still and without life.

it is the first moment of his liberation.
